Amulet

Today I challenged myself to create an object from the randomly generated idea site artprompts.org.
The prompt that i received was "An amulet with a glowing fire gem".

I want to do more of these in order to improve my workflow, speed as well as texturing skills.

Hand Painted Tree

I've been working on my hand painted texture work I aim to use my knowledge of color to make objects feel connected within a world. I've been caught up with my major assessment at university once its over i will have plenty of time to pursue my goal.

Evil Whispers

I again picked one of my sketches today for some digital art practice. I focused on the use of lighting to direct the viewers attention.

Custom Collision Tutorial

Here's a tutorial I made whilest studying at AIE, Our project required accurate collisions, this tutorial was a result of my research.

Subject Contrast

One of my favorite discoveries whilest researching so far is the use of subject contrast.
This is a character sketch through a challenge I set myself of late. I decided to include the use of complementary colors as well as subject matter contrast. The child like objects make the character more vicious and insane.

Color Theory

Here's a color theory sheet that artists may find helpful, i sometimes forget the terms myself.

Warm colors are super effective

Whilest exploring color theory I found that images that use a warm color pallet attract a viewers eye over cool pallets, the color red being the first area of focus. Through research I found that as a species we subconsciously relate the color to danger forcing us to look at it first.

As a personal exersize i analyzed a few images from a google search to see what made the image work and what let them down, this image stood out due to its warm color pallet, all the lines in the image lead to the subject of focus, the Eiffel Tower in which stands in contrast to the sunset.

Squid

The complementary green draws the viewers eye, i intend to explore more and better uses of color in the future.

Rococo Walls

The walls, Initially i made these ridiculously modular however my style didn't suit the theme, once i reworked it there wasn't much time left.

(just noticed that the picture is rather pink, probably should fix that up in marmoset).

Window

The Window, its alright, I needed to fix the roughness on the curtains though.

Fireplace

I'll post my least favorite first :P the Fireplace. I don't like it because all the materials were white, eventually i got sick of this and went crazy in substance painter, chucking in all that ash. Probably too much looking at it now.

Fly Through

Just finished an assessment, we were required to present a fly through so here it is. I worked on the walls, windows and fireplace. i had to rework my assets limiting my time to produce more, im not that happy with what we made but im glad i learnt something from it.

Doesnt look like it'll let me post it at 1080p, sorry for the quality. ill just post some asset breakdowns.

Heres a youtube link if your interested.

Blockout composition

We were given a simple/poor block out in class and told to do a paint over, i took this opportunity to play with composition. Didn't spend too long on it, just getting an idea of leading the viewers eye.

Businessman Rainy Day

I made this character for a game jam at uni, i sculpted, retopologized, textured, rigged, weight painted and animated him in my spare time. I probably shouldn't have gone that far with a sculpt when the model would be fairly simple anyway.
